Smart Grid LAB Hessian
The smart grid of the future was examined holistically from various perspectives in a realistic laboratory.
Hessian experts from the fields of research, engineering, IT security and the manufacture of electrotechnical switching and measuring components worked together on an interdisciplinary basis to optimize economic, dynamic and safety aspects.
The findings were later transferred to a national and international level.
Real Lab
The Smart Grid LAB Hessen is being set up to test active control processes in the smart grid and all the necessary functionalities under practical conditions. Various scenarios are being developed for this purpose, such as
- the increase in renewable decentralized power generation
- a higher demand for electricity, e.g. due to more electromobility and heat pumps
- The establishment of prosumers (producers and consumers) with and without storage systems
The so-called real laboratory is being set up under the direction of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences at the Pfeffer engineering office in Rödermark, Hesse.
