Prof. Ingo Jeromin in the hessenschau: "Digitalization is the solution for sustainability"

Digitalization is often criticized for its high electricity consumption and CO2 emissions. However, the Smart Grid LAB in Rödermark shows that it can also make an important contribution to sustainability.

Under the leadership of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, the project partners Ingenieurbüro Pfeffer, JEAN MÜLLER, QGroup and Tractebel are researching and testing various scenarios for the energy system of the future. In particular, the real laboratory is simulating in real time how electricity flows can be controlled, especially in view of the changes expected as a result of the energy transition. According to Jeromin, digitalization is crucial in this area: "Particularly in the field of energy technology, we will only be able to implement a sustainable energy system in the future against the backdrop of the energy transition if we also have digitalization in energy technology. In other words, the energy transition will not succeed without the digitalization of the energy grid."
